At Andale School we provide:
- An ungraded, developmental curriculum in order to develop individualised learning programmes for our students
- A regular Primary School curriculum including all the key learning areas modified to suit individual learning needs
- A Perceptual Motor Programme to enhance the development of visual perception skills, gross and fine motor skills, socialisation, planning, organization and problem solving skills
- Social Skills training helping children to make and maintain friendships, develop social problem solving skills, develop an awareness of politeness routines and social boundaries etc.
- Activity based learning related to children’s current interests and learning needs
- A programme to develop listening and oral language fundamental to the development of language and communication skills
- Explicit teaching related to the acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills
- Time to practice new skills, review skills acquired and reflect on achievements
- A programme that encourages children to develop initiative, resourcefulness, independence and responsibility
- A School Psychologist 2 x days weekly, providing psychological and academic
assessments as well as support for students and families. - A Speech Therapist 3 x days weekly, providing programmes for individuals, small
groups and class groups (as required) focusing on the acquisition of
– phonological awareness and literacy skills
– comprehension/understanding
– expressive and receptive language
– communication and social interaction skills - a sports programme to develop skills, fitness, co- operation and sportsmanship
